Bangkok, Thailand's riverside
capital, is one of the most exotic cities in the Orient. It is known to the Thais as
"Krungthep" (which means the City of Angels) and was established in 1782 by King
Rama 1. Today it has developed into a great
metropolis with a population of over 6 Million people. Bangkok's strategic location makes
it one of the world's major crossroads and the most important air transportation hub in
Southeast Asia.
Bangkok is also a city steeped in history, culture and
religion, so you will be offered a host of memorable sights around the city and given a
good introduction to Thailand.
